I am Shahpour Ebrahimi, an M.Sc. graduate in Natural Resources Engineering (specializing in Desert Coexistence) from the University of Tehran, and a senior manager, active researcher, and innovative theorist in the fields of sustainable natural resources management, watershed management, desertification control, and climate adaptation. With more than 30 years of continuous managerial, executive, and research experience at the provincial (Qom) and national levels, I have played a significant role in the planning, leadership, and advancement of major natural resources projects in Iran.

Regarding my academic background, after completing my Bachelor’s degree in Watershed Management Engineering at Gorgan University, I earned my Master’s degree in Natural Resources Engineering, with a focus on soil and water conservation and watershed management, from the University of Tehran. My academic and professional trajectory has been shaped by in-depth engagement with hydrological processes, soil dynamics, watershed system management, erosion reduction, flood control, desertification mitigation, and innovative approaches to managing dry and semi-arid ecosystems. Throughout my career, my scientific work has remained closely aligned with real-world environmental challenges and practical implementation needs.

In terms of managerial experience, I served as Deputy Director of Watershed Management in Qom Province for 14 years (2005–2019). In addition, before and after this period, I held various senior managerial positions within the General Department of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of Qom Province. During this time, I was responsible for the management, planning, high-level supervision, and evaluation of hundreds of study-based and executive projects related to soil and water conservation, watershed management, natural resources protection, erosion and flood control, rehabilitation of degraded lands, and the implementation of participatory projects with local communities. My extensive experience in field-based project leadership, community engagement, inter-institutional coordination, and data-driven decision-making constitutes a key strength of my managerial profile.

Furthermore, I served for one year as an Advisor to the Head of the Forests, Rangelands, and Watershed Management Organization of Iran, where I contributed to strategic policy analysis, evaluation of national-level projects, formulation of expert recommendations, and scientific support for high-level organizational decision-making.

In the research domain, I have been responsible for or actively involved in approximately 100 national and international research and applied projects in the fields of soil and water conservation, natural resources management, watershed management, climate adaptation, desertification, and sustainable development. I am also the author and presenter of numerous scientific papers with a strong emphasis on theory development and innovation, focusing on the formulation of new conceptual frameworks, quantitative analysis, and practical applicability in policy-making and implementation. Many of these works have been accepted and presented at national and international scientific conferences.

Overall, the unique integration of long-term managerial experience, solid academic training, and extensive research activity positions me as a problem-oriented, strategic, and influential professional in the field of natural resources and watershed management. My primary focus is on developing scientifically sound, locally adaptable, and practically implementable solutions to address the fundamental challenges of sustainable land and natural resources development.
